We are hiring two positions for the 2026 season.

Market Manager

The Market Manager acts as our chief ambassador, representing the market in the community. The Manager must be a self-starter, committed to the buy local movement, a systems thinker, friendly, energetic, have excellent communication and relationship building skills, as well as a keen eye for detail and experience with numbers (e.g., budgeting, tracking finances). Previous customer service and cash handling are required. Some event and program/project management experience are preferred.
Responsibilities: Planning our weekly market, facilitating programming, on-site Market Management. Attend and manage all weekly Sunday markets from June until mid-October as well as the Holiday Market. Weekly market set up and clean-up (ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs is required). Recruit and manage on-site volunteers. Oversee staff and volunteers conducting merchandise sales. Maintain excellent relations with vendors. This position is seasonal with 25-30 hours a week from April to December and part-time as required during the winter months. Cell phone and internet access is required. Compensation will be based on experience.

Market Assistant
We are hiring a market assistant under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants must be aged between 15 and 30 years old and eligible to work in in Canada. Working with the with the Market Manager, the market assistant will assist in delivering all aspects of the Mabou Market operations, programming and fundraising during the summer season. The assistant must be a people person, a systems thinker with strong problem-solving skills, have strong arithmetic skills, comfortable with financial transactions, is mature, trustworthy, punctual with a good attendance record. Previous customer service and cash handling experience are assets for this role. This is an employment contract for 30 hours per week starting in late May or early June for 10 weeks with potential to continue until the end of the season.
