The Farm in Glenville makes artisanal preserves, confections, and farm-to-bar chocolate. Our products are made from scratch, using what we grow on our farm. The brainchild of Nikkey Elizabeth, our farm is operated by Nikkey and her husband, Douglas. As artisan farmers, we love making beautiful, unique farm-to-table products.
We use traditional and ecological farming practices to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers, which Nikkey uses to make farm-to-table preserves, chocolates, and confections. The adaptation needed with farming guides our creative process––so products change with harvests. Our production processes are intricate to make exceptionally delicious products.
We have over twelve varieties of preserves available in individual jars or sets. Our preserves include traditional Cape Breton favourites such as Strawberry Rhubarb Jam and Green Tomato Chow Chow. Our Red Pepper Jelly and Rhubarb Ginger Jam are also local favourites.
Chocolates include farm-to-bar flavours refined with fruits, seeds, peppers, and ginger grown on our farm. They are available in bars, tasting square sets with assorted flavours, inclusion bars with candied fruits, seeds, turmeric, ginger, and glazed edible flowers, and finally, filled bonbons. We make our chocolate from the beans on-site, sourcing beans from small-scale farmers like us and adding our seeds, fruit, and flowers to produce remarkable products.
Confections include a new line of fruit jellies that we will be expanding during the season. Depending on ingredient availability, we also make sugar-free hard candy lollipops and a limited line of sugar-free preserves.
In season, we will also bring our surplus harvests to our local market, the Mabou Farmers’ Market, which includes strawberries, cane berries, fruits, and vegetables from our farm.
